Slender: The Arrival Release Date Outed?
Feb 2nd 2013, 06:00

Before getting into this, let me make this clear that this is not fact by any means. New information on the project has been revealed by Blue Isle Studios, and I’ve seen something in it that makes me wonder if the release date for the game has been slipped accidentally. I’m very interested naturally because Slender: The Arrival is one of my most anticipated games for this entire year, and I’m dying for it.

Of course, you didn’t come here to listen to me ramble on, so let me get to the story.

For a quick reminder, Blue Isle Studios are working with Parsec Productions, the creators of the original Slender, on Slender: The Arrival. Yesterday, Blue Isle posted an update on their website which reveals that the studio is looking to hire programmers for the final stretch of development.

The post details the experience you’ll need to have, the goals and responsibilities of your work and skills and abilities you’ll need to be considered for the job. However, here’s where it gets interesting.

The opening paragraph reads:

We are looking to hire an experienced and highly motivated programmer to work on our upcoming horror game, Slender: The Arrrival. This is a two month full-time contract, the successful applicant can work remotely from home with our team in Toronto, Canada. Your role will be to assist the lead programmer and game designers as we wrap up production on The Arrival, handling a wide range of tasks from AI programming, to implementing new gameplay features, to bug fixing.

Did you see what I saw? Let me make it more clear. I quote: “This is a two month full-time contract.”

It then goes on to clearly say, “Your role will be to assist the lead programmer and game designers as we wrap up production on The Arrival.” Now, we know that Slender: The Arrival is currently scheduled to release somewhere in the first quarter of 2013, and a very recent tease on the game’s Facebook page suggests that there could be a beta for it before then. However, it’s explicitly said that the programmer will help finish off the game. But, here’s the questionable part.

I’m sure you can see it now. The programmer is being called on for a two month, full-time contract, and his job is to help wrap up production. Does this mean that the game will be out sometime in April?

Or is it possible that the programmer will need to stay on for a bit after the game is out for bug fixing and such? That seems unlikely since, again, the idea here is to finish production of Arrival.

What do you say? Am I reading too much into this, or has the release date been slipped, and it’s April?
