PlayStation's 'Indie Avalanche' Brings Exclusives to PS4, Vita
Aug 21st 2013, 23:55, by Thomas Chamberlain

At Sony's Gamescom Press Conference yesterday a lot of focus was placed upon PlayStation's growing indie scene, numerous titles were announced for the PS3, PS4 and the PS Vita.

Shahid Ahmad, the Senior Business Developer over at Sony explained in a blogpost:

At gamescom, we've just underlined our commitment to bringing PlayStation fans the creative work of the some of the best indie talent in the world. Many of the games we've announced from our indie development partners will be making their console debut on PS4 and PS Vita. We've also got titles continuing to come to PS3.

Remember, at PlayStation, we allow the smallest indies to self-publish on the PS Store alongside the biggest publishers, we're democratic like that. We're also working hard to make things better for our partners, large or small, all the time.

The full Gamescom PS4 indie list…

This is some fantastic support for the Vita and some excellent indie games for the PS4. Rogue legacy is a fantastic game and getting that first on your console was a very big thing, similarly with having Hotline Miami 2, The Binding of Isaac, Fez and N++. Sony are really showing how much they care about the indie games and is quickly becoming the brand of choice for console indie developers and players.

Whilst Microsoft are leading the way with big launch day games it seems that Sony have destroyed Microsoft on the indie front. Although Microsoft did announce the details for ID@Xbox I must wonder why anybody would choose Microsoft first over Sony when independent games repeatedly get given so much importance on Sony's big stage.

Let me know in the comments what you think about Sony getting all of these indie games and whether you think having indie games is as important than the big console blockbusters.
