Earlier today, Microsoft confirmed that Might and Magic: Clash of Heroes , and Halo 3 will both be available for free during the October "Games With Gold" promotion.
The promo kicks off with Might and Magic: Clash of Heroes which will be available for download to all Xbox Live Gold subscribers from October 1st to October 15th. Clash of Heroes is is a puzzle role-playing adventure game based on the popular Might and Magic franchise. This game originally launched on the Nintendo DS way back in 2009 before making it's way to the Xbox 360 in April of 2011.
On October 16th, the promo will continue with Halo 3 taking over as the free game for the rest of the month. The game was one of the titles that Microsoft promised when they first announced the Games with Gold program. Fans who are familiar with the Halo franchise have most likely already played this game and thus the promo seems almost pointless now.
With today's announcement of this October's Games with gold offerings, Microsoft continues to disappoint on just about every level. While these games may have been good a few years ago, they clearly are aged at this point. As it stands now, the August promotion still remains as the strongest offering the program has had. Is it possible that Microsoft can redeem themselves next month? Ultimately only time will tell, but I certainly don't feel the least bit optimistic about it.
What do you think of these games? Do any of you planning on downloading Might and Magic: Clash of Heroes or Halo 3? Feel free to let me know your thoughts in the comments section below.
