Bad News, Star Wars 1313 MIght Be On Hold

I don’t know if the world just likes doing this to us, but Friday seems a particularly good day to release depressing news. This week’s doses comes from LucusArts who apparently have put Star Wars 1313 on hold after Disney acquired the Star Wars license last year.

According to sources close to Kotaku, Star Wars 1313 has been placed on hold ever since Disney acquired the licenses last year. We’ve been hearing a lot about potential Star Wars films and according to these sources this is exactly why we have heard nearly next to nothing about 1313, as Disney aims to focus more “on the new trilogy, not on material that is unrelated to the planned JJ Abrams-directed Star Wars: Episode VII.”

However, there are two sides to this Star Wars coin. On the one this could not be a bad thing, as 1313 was rumoured for current generation consoles. Considering we could have both next-gen consoles out by the end of the year, a delay to make 1313 look even more astonishing would probably be welcomed by gamers, especially after the highly impressive demo at last year’s E3.

What Star Wars fans don’t want to see happen is another Battlefront III scenario. To this day there are petitions for LucusArts to finish what they started, and 1313 is looking suspiciously similar to Battlefront with news like this.

Either way, we’re not entirely sure what’s happening with this latest Star Wars title. Let’s just hope it actually releases and doesn’t fall into a pit of delays. We’ve seen what that can do to games, haven’t we Colonial Marines,.
