Don’t shoot the messenger here, please. I’m just as eager as all of you to get my hands on Naughty Dog’s latest IP, The Last of Us. May is still looking like a while away, but if recent listing changes by some retailers are to be believed, we may have to wait a bit longer to explore the world with Joel and Ellie.
Best Buy in the United States has changed the listing on their website for The Last of Us, moving the release date from the 7th of May to June 18th. That’s almost a month and a half more for us to wait, if the change is indeed correct. Gamespot and Amazon, as well has our local websites, all still have the third-person adventure title slated for a May release.
It isn’t unusual for retailers to change the release dates of titles, sometimes jumping the gun and revealing the delay before the studios themselves. However, Naughty Dog has never delayed a game after publicly announcing the release date.
So either this is a massive error or a monumental first on Naughty Dog’s part. We’ll keep you updated.
