Out Of Nowhere, Sony Is Hosting A PS Vita Announcement Today
Feb 18th 2013, 06:30

We’re all anxiously waiting for February 20th, but Sony seemingly wants to get a few announcements out of the way before their big next-gen reveal. So literally out of the blue Sony Japan began teasing an online stream event for the PlayStation Vita. Thing is, the event isn’t scheduled for a week or two from now. This PS Vita event is happening today.

The page itself says little other than when the event will take place, stating that Sony "will deliver new information about PlayStation Vita" on Monday, February 18th at 5pm Tokyo time. The event is being hosted by Hiroshi Kawano, the President of Sony Computer Entertainment Japan.

As IGN so diligently points out, some of the notes at the bottom of the page could give some clues as to what this event is about. Firstly, that the "streamed broadcast is already prerecorded" could suggest that we aren’t going to see a new PS Vita, as rumoured last week. Usually announcements like that are live-streamed, although anything could happen. The other note is particularly more interesting as it states that "some software may be age-restricted." This means we’re actually going to see games for the PS Vita, can you believe that?

The steam is set to go live in less than two hours, so check back here as we update this article with everything worth noting from the event. While you wait, feel free to speculate in the comments below.
