Moving past tablets
Archos is reportedly set to move past tablets and expand into the mobile handset sector later this year, according to a report from Russian publication Hi-Tech.?
The report notes that Archos will add to its recently announced line of Platinum tablets with a line of Platinum handsets running Android.?
Archos' flagship smartphone will feature a 4.8-inch 1280x800 display, 1.7GHz quad-core processor, and Android 4.1. It is expected to retail for $335 and look similar to Samsung's hot-selling Galaxy S III, as seen above.
The other two handsets aimed at the budget crowd are still a little scant on details. A low-end 5.2-inch 800x460 display rocking handset with 1.2GHz processor and $120 3.5-inch single-core handset are said to be in the mix.??
Archos may have some competition as HP is also rumoured to get back into the smartphone game with an Android handset and tablet.?
If the new set of rumours are to be believed Archos will be releasing the handsets sometime in May. No pricing or availability has yet to be detailed. We've reached out to Archos in hopes of learning more.
