Destiny No Longer Coming In 2013
Feb 19th 2013, 06:30

After the massive information blowout yesterday surrounding Bungie’s new title, Destiny, I was pretty excited for the game’s release at the end of this year. That dream was somewhat crushed by Activision just a few hours later, as they announced that Destiny would no longer be releasing this year.

Publisher Activision confirmed that Destiny was not included in their 2013 outlook and that “there should be no speculation or expectation of a different result”. Just to make things more clear, Activision’s fiscal year ends on the 31st of December 2013, so there’s no difference if they’re referring solely to their financial year or the actual calendar year.

However, the same press release confirmed that Destiny would be coming to next-gen consoles when it does release. The press release states that Destiny is confirmed for “the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, as well as other future console platforms”. Considering we might see these next-gen consoles as early as the holiday season this year, Activision might have delayed Destiny to ensure a simultaneous release across all systems.

Regardless, it’s still a disappointing delay to say the least, especially when you consider just how ground breaking the game is looking already. Check out the full reveal from yesterday and let us know your thoughts about Destiny.
