When THQ dissolved earlier this year, a lot of famous IPs’ found new homes and publishers after a rather large auction. However, it wasn’t all rain and sunshine for all of THQ’s franchises, with some not finding new publishers and leaving gamers to wonder what the future had in store of them. These included the Darksiders and Red Faction franchises, but a new sale could secure them a future.
THQ has announced that their remaining assets that were not sold last month will be sold off, with the process expected to end around May. Why the sale will take that long is anyone’s guess, but at least some popular franchises' could still see some sequels. IP’s being sold off include Darksiders, Red Faction, Destroy All Humans!, Supreme Commander, Worms and more.
The process will still follow an auction format, with initial bids required by the 1st of April and final bids by the 15th of April. Highest bidder wins, after which the process will move over to the courts to handle all the legal processes that this sale include. Boring stuff that we really don’t want to hear about, just tell us who’s in charge of our games and we’ll be happy.
While it’s good to see Darksiders get another shot, should all of these IP’s be picked up? I mean, Destroy All Humans? Some things just deserve to die sometimes.
